How to store a YAKport in winter?

The YAKport is great for extending your kayaking season into fall, due to being able to enter your kayak while staying dry. If you are in Wisconsin or another state where the water freezes during the winter, it is important to take your YAKport out of the water before ice forms. Below are some tips to winterize your YAKport Kayak Launch.

How to store your YAKport Kayak Launch in the winter:

  • Remove the YAKport from the water.
  • Store the YAKport flat (on flat ground, or on top of your dock).
  • Store the YAKport right side up. Right side up storage decreases the risk of water and ice causing damage by getting into the underside cavities and vent holes.
  • If you want to put it in a garage, shed or boathouse that works well too.

Take your YAKport out of the water before ice forms to keep it in good condition. Store the YAKport on flat ground over the winter season.
